Since the start of this most recent business in 2007 a very experienced team has been recruited and trained to manage major projects the Company has been awarded. The Company has now grown to 20 detailing staff, all of which have come from a fabrication and steel detailing background.

SDE Consulting Asia Pty Ltd is owned and operated by the Managing Director Michael Cowling. Mr. Cowling primarily spent his working life involved in Structural Steel Fabrication and Construction, starting a small fabrication workshop in Bell Bay Tasmania servicing the major industrial sector. Major clients included Comalco Aluminium Smelter, BHP Temco Smelter, Starwood MDF Plant, and Beaconsfield Gold Mine.
SDE Consulting Asia Pty Ltd experienced team provides clients with a complete steel detailing package using Tekla Structures 3D software, creating a highly accurate virtual model then producing all necessary drawings for procurement, fabrication and erection of every component of the structure. SDE Consulting also offers staff to work overseas to oversee fabrication quality control (primary Offshore).
After receiving another contract from Sun Engineering, SDE CONSULTING ASIA PTY LTD has been contracted provide extremely complex shop detailing for the rail receiver station on Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal.
Included in this state of the art project are the 300 tonne loading bin, rail beams, screening and conveyor mechanicals and terminal structure, all mechanical and chute work associated with in-loading and out-loading of the bins and 6kms of overland conveyors including tail-end, head-end, drive station, and take up tower.Overall this project will include 1600 tonne of structural steel, mechanical items and plate work.

Laing O'Rourke has engaged SDE CONSULTING ASIA PTY LTD to provide shop detailing services for the APLNG Marine Facility. The contract includes all structural items for the Curtis Island Facility - aggregate dock, including main wharf headstocks and structure, mooring and berthing dolphin, walkways and miscellaneous items totalling more than 180 tonne of steel.
