John Curtin is an experienced Dental Prosthetist with over 35 years in the dental industry. He began his career working as an apprentice dental technician, then later trained and qualified as a Dental Prosthetist in 1987. John has spent the past 10 years as a full time educator of Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists in NSW, and has now opened a denture practice in Wollongong.
Full dentures are worn by patients who are missing all of their teeth, either on their upper, lower or both of their jaws. They are made from a plastic material and can be designed with your choice of tooth shape and colour. A partial denture can replace teeth either on the upper or lower jaw. This helps to maintain the integrity of the remaining teeth, as well as improving ones appearance and their ability to eat.
Custom mouthguards are made to fit the individual wearer's teeth and gums closely. They are more comfortable to wear, so they are more likely to be worn at all times and therefore offer greater protection than shop bought mouthguards. They help minimise dental injuries and even reduce the chances of concussion occurring during the playing of contact sports.
