Services
As an addition to painting restoration we also restore frames. Cleaning, paint re-touching, gilding, and reconstruction are the more common frame procedures. Historically when a frame was commissioned for an individual painting, its cost was often equal to the painting itself. Over time, most antique frames are damaged by amateur repairs and painting re-touching, weather/environmental conditions, poor storage and rough handling.
ARA offer complete furniture restoration from surface and aesthetic work, to structural repairs. We treat any damaged surface, respecting always the age and the natural effect of the time, or return original splendour to a deteriorated work. French polish and Gilded pieces are our specialty. We can reconstruct damaged structural elements and bring back the functionality of any piece.
Painting effects and murals for the Domestic, Designer, and Commercial market including Film Set murals and props. Feature walls, columns, doors, furniture, railings, etc, we can assist and advise you on just about any idea you may have. We have extensive knowledge and experience in producing artistic and impressionist painterly effects and imitation effects such as sandstone, marble, oxidisation, aged brass & copper.
We restore all varieties of porcelain and ceramics, such as Majolica, Raku, Old Paris Porcelain, & earthenware. Services include cleaning, bonding, retouch, gilding, and fabrication of missing elements. We also recognise that not all pieces warrant extensive restoration, therefore we offer the client the options of 'repair only', 'partial restoration' or 'full restoration'.
Effective conservation and restoration depends upon the restorer's understanding of materials, technical craftsmanship, aesthetic & historical awareness. We come into contact with a broad range of work from classic portrait and human figure studies, small decorative works, to functional sculptural pieces, & large scale on site sculpture interventions.
