Health - it is one of those things that you don't notice it until it is gone. For me it has been a few times in my life where I was happily traveling along and then bang - it hit me out of the blue. Modern life has given us many advances. We live longer, can access the world at our fingertips, and can get instant answers to all of our questions, however this has a down side in that we are more stressed, tired, and run down than ever before.

My name is Jackie Arbuckle and I am a naturopath who as a special interest in digestive health, autoimmune illness, and iridology. I studied naturopathy at the Southern School of Natural Therapies, and I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Naturopathy), which is the highest qualification available in my field.
Sometimes it just needs a little nudge to get back on to the right track again. The human body also strives for balance. When unwell, the body gives signs as to how it is out of balance. These signs need professional interpretation, which I do via a very thorough and detailed case history and iridology analysis.
A naturopathic consultation involves an in-depth look at your current health, diet and lifestyle, past medical history, and family history. I always provide dietary advice, as well as suggestions for lifestyle changes. These suggestions are realistic and practical. I understand that life is to be lived, and that restricting one's diet too heavily is not sustainable long term.
During the consultation I ask lots of questions about what you eat. Food choices are very important. Everything we eat becomes part of our body, so it is important for me to assess how you fuel and replenish your body via your diet. Having said that, I am not the type of naturopath that insists that all my patients become vegetarian, or eat only raw food, or go off sugar.
I need to get to know what type of life you lead in order to best figure out what makes you tick, and why you may be unwell. Lifestyle includes elements such as exercise, how you handle stress, what you do for fun and relaxation, where you live, what you do for a living, and what your family environment is like.
