Services
The services Wheatbelt Occupational Therapy offer aim to promote social-emotional learning; regulate overactive or under active sensory systems; and through collaboration with families and medical or educational professionals develop emotional supports, structure, and effective child-centred behaviour management systems.
Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) is a developmentally appropriate form of counselling and psychotherapy for children aged 2.5 to 11-12 years. It is a modality used by specially trained child mental health professionals in order to work and communicate effectively with children with a range of emotional, social and behavioural issues.
Highway Heroes is a fantastic programme developed by BEST Programme 4 Kids' to equip trained professionals with the tools to deliver a comprehensive behavioural, emotional and social skills programme to children years 1-3 and 4-6.

Highway Heroes was developed by two passionate highly skilled mental health specialists; Claire Orange (Speech Pathologist) and Helen Davidson (Occupational Therapist) for teachers and therapists to implement in a classroom or small group setting.Wheatbelt Occupational Therapy believe in this programme and the work Claire and Helen are doing.
At any one moment in time a persons sensory experience includes a combination of touch, movement, body awareness, sight, sound, smell, taste and/or the pull of gravity. The process by which the brain organises, interprets and decides whether or not to use that information is called Sensory Integration.
We strongly encourage regular private catch ups with each child's parent(s) or primary caregiver(s) in conjunction with a child's individual therapy sessions. This provides the chance to discuss their child's progress and explore ways to best support them at home throughout the therapeutic process.
