Services
Kindergarten (also called preschool) is a program for 3 and 4 year old children delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher. A kindergarten program is an early childhood education program planned and delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher. Kindergarten programs are run in children's centres, child care centres, community kindergartens and in some schools.
The Eureka Community Kindergarten Association (ECKA) is a not-for-profit Early Years Manager, providing Management and Employment Services for 28 early childhood education services (Kindergarten, Long Day Care and Occasional Care) in the Ballarat and surrounding area. ECKA was established in 2003 by a group of volunteers from seven founding Community Kindergartens.
All ECKA Early Childhood Education Services meet or exceed the National Quality Standards and nurture the educational and developmental needs of individual children. The educational program and practice at ECKA managed services is stimulating, engaging and enhances children's learning and development.
Yes, the Victorian Government's new No Jab, No Play law requires all Victorian children to have a record of immunisation to be enrolled in childcare and kindergarten, unless they have a medical reason. ECKA will claim for the fee subsidy from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development on your behalf.
Each Early Childhood Education Service (kindergarten) managed by ECKA receive funding through Government to operate the 4 year old kindergarten program in the year before school. Government funding amounts to 65% of the total revenue required to operate a service. ECKA has to set kindergarten attendance fees to cover the gap between this funding and the cost of running the centre.
