Instrument Theory (IREX) is an extremely important subject for pilots wishing to extend their knowledge and career. An instrument rating is essential for pilots wanting to advance to the airlines or other areas of GA such as corporate or charter work.
You will learn about instrument approach and departure procedures, navigation aids, RNAV & RNP, planning IFR flights, navigation requirements and tolerances as well as associated air law & procedures.The syllabus, contained under Part 61 MOS, is extensive and requires the student to absorb a lot of knowledge regarding procedures, air law, meteorology as well as quite a few numbers.

Somerset Aviation is now working with Queensland Aviation Academy (QAA) in providing quality, advanced aviation theory training. Although our initial focus is IFR theory, we will be offering the full suite of ATPL subjects in the class room.
Our team consists of highly experienced pilots from piston and turbine operations in GA to airline industry professionals who have a wide variety of experience as Captains with many thousands of hours on B737 and B777 type aircraft.Somerset Aviation has a proven track record with excellent pass rates in IFR theory and we intend to maintain this high standard throughout all the ATPL subjects.
