A confidential medical and dental history is noted and discussed with any special needs/concerns also addressed at this stage. It's important to assess the teeth, tissue, bone and gums before we discuss the most suitable course of treatment for your individual needs. Once a plan has been agreed on, we'll then take preliminary impressions of your teeth and gums.
New Dentures will improve your bite and are sharper than worn-down teeth, so this will provide a better chewing function. Dentures only need to be taken out at night if they cause discomfort or if you suffer from a fungal infection called Denture Stomatitis. However, if you prefer to remove the dentures, there's no harm in doing this.
At Evan Street Denture Clinic, we provide quality denture care to all our patients and are always happy to give advice on how to care for your dentures. To ensure they're kept in optimum condition, your dentures should be brushed with liquid soap and water after each meal if possible.
There are also specific denture toothpastes available from retailers, and denture cleansing tablets should also be used once a day - soaking the dentures to clean them effectively.It's important to be careful not to drop your dentures around hard surfaces, as they may break or be damaged when dropped - particularly on ceramic basins and tiles.
