Imagine traveling along one of the bush tracks leading to Port Fairy in the middle of last century. The night is pitch-black. Then you catch a glimpse of a light in the distance, perhaps two or three. You know that you are in sight of a wayside inn, with a bed, a hot meal and a glass of grog, for the inns were compelled to keep lamps burning outside their premises.
The Stag Inn was a remarkable building for its time. The Argus commented that 'it would do credit even to Sydney'. It boasted a dining room, a commercial room, five parlours, twenty bedrooms, eight second-class bedrooms, a bar and billiard room as well as private apartments. Where the motel now stands were stables for twenty horses, which were used by wealthy squatters.

Services
If smart, modern and contemporary is more your thing then the four star Seacombe House Motor Inn is ideal offering a range of spacious and well appointed premier and executive suites. There are eighteen large, tastefully decorated apartments offering a choice of Premier Queen rooms (2 with spa bathrooms) or King and Queen Executive suites.
The heritage cottages (built in 1853) provide a historical flavour combined with the luxuries of open fire and large double spa. Built in 1853, our heritage listed cottages served as banking chambers, and borough offices, and now house 3 four star apartments. Each cottage offers a distinct individual style with old world charm and comfort, with garden setting just steps outside your door.
Built in 1847 this National Heritage Listed property offers quaint, charming and atmospheric accommodation. The guest lounge/common room provides TV, tea/coffee facilities, refrigerator, table and chairs and magazines. Guests frequently comment that it's the best accommodation of its type that they've stayed in Australia, because of its charm, warmth, cleanliness, freshness, atmosphere and value for money.
Port Fairy's rich history is abundant and superbly preserved. Most attractions are within easy walking distance of Seacombe House: the picturesque Moyne River, magnificent beaches, Griffith Island and its Mutton Bird colony, the town's beautiful colonial architecture, attractive cafes and restaurants, and so much more.
Port Fairy and surrounds offers a lot to do whilst visiting the area. There are several things that we feel are a must if you have the opportunity PLUS there are many other options if they are your cup of tea! Take a drive down the Great Ocean Road and visit the 12 Apostles and other amazing coastal features.

Christine was amazing to begin with. Her personality definitely uplifts the experience and expectation of the stay. We had booked last minute, whilst on a road trip heading back to Victoria and required 2 rooms, one for us, 2 kids and the parents. Christine took the initiative to put us together which required to upgrade our room.
Can’t recommend any higher as a place to stay, quiet and central to all your goodies and restaurants.
Thank you again!

We got the last room at the last minute on a busy Saturday. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The shared shower room and toilet were clean.
Room was not big but comfy. There was an electric blanket and a heater in the room. Towels and shampoo were on the bed when we arrived. There was sweet biscuits in the lounge room.
Nice location to the local shops.

My daughter, my father and I have just come home from a most wonderful and comfortable stay at Seacombe house and Comfort Inn Port Fairy, we absolutely loved our stay. The rooms were impeccable, clean, spacious and cozy. Christine was a lovely host and we will most definitely be back here the next time we visit Port Fairy xx
