Services
Established in 2002, Classic Cruises offers public cruises departing from Southgate and private charters departing from key locations along Melbourne's waterways. With two unique riverboats to choose from, including the historic MV Grower, we are available day or night for both personal and corporate events.
When you book with an account, you will be able to track your payment status, track the confirmation and you can also rate the tour after you finished the tour. For those after a longer experience hop aboard at Southgate for an hour cruise on the Yarra. This cruise is half an hour upstream and half an hour downstream, beginning with a safety briefing from your Captain.
Hop aboard at Southgate for a half hour upstream cruise on the Yarra, beginning with a safety briefing from your Captain.
Regarded as the scenic part of the river, we travel upstream past Federation Square, the Birrarung Marr parklands, numerous sporting venues such as the MCG and Rod Laver Arena, under Swan Street Bridge, which is one of 65 bridges spanning the Yarra, past the botanic gardens and the suburb of Richmond, turning around at the mansions of South Yarra.

Hop aboard at Southgate for a half hour downstream cruise on the Yarra, beginning with a safety briefing from your Captain. The lines are let go and we head downstream under three very low bridges, Queen street being the first, followed by King and Spencer.
We pass the landing point for European settlers, the Aquarium and Casino, Exhibition building, the historic sailing ship PollyWoodside, restaurants and bars of South Wharf, DFO, and one last low bridge before we enter the Docklands area.Looking further downstream from our turn around point you can view the commercial port of Melbourne.

Melbourne turned on a perfect day for a delightful cruise. These guys have it sussed. A short cruise up, and a short cruise down river stopping at the jetty on the way past means that you won't have to wait long to hop on board. We sat out in the sun but there's plenty of shaded seating. We were aboard "Grower" who is a beautifully maintained/restored vessel from 1924. The commentary was just right in volume, content, and time.

Awesome vintage boat ride on the Yarra River. MV Grower was built in 1924 shares the route with MV Eureka. They have half hour and one hour cruises from berth 2 on Southbank (near the arch bridge outside the main ground entrance to Southgate). They cruise from here up river to the Church Street bridge then out to the river mouth on the bay.
