Smart Talk Therapy for Kids provides speech pathology and occupational therapy assessment and treatment for children. We provide both individual therapy and group sessions. To begin with, information about the child's development and a case history will be gathered.
Depending on the age of the child and the difficulties identified, assessment may be formal or informal and include any combination of standardised tests; direct observation of play and interaction with caregivers; report by parent, teacher, or physician; and collection and detailed analysis of spontaneous speech samples. From the results of the evaluation, goals and a treatment plan will be discussed with the parent.

Speech pathology, speech therapy and speech language pathology all refer to the same field of practice. Speech Pathologists complete a 4 year Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) or 2 year Masters degree. Speech Pathologists provide assessment, therapy and management from newborn babies right to the later stages of life.
We are excited to now specialise in assessment and intervention for orofacial myofunctional disorders. We believe this is an essential area in paediatric speech pathology as we have found that many children struggling with generalisation of articulation goals (such as lisps) actually present with myofunctional disorders that need to be first assessed and managed.

We have been attending Smart Talk for some time now. We have been so happy with both the results achieved & the encouragement that both Catherine & Lauren have given our almost 7 year old son.
Speech pathology at Smart Talk is always made fun, and Catherine your drawings :) are the best! Great work girls! So lucky to have found you.

When my son started attended Speech Therapy with Lauren he was almost a year behind his peers in his articulation. Everyone except me had trouble understanding him and it was affecting his schooling and left him very emotional about being constantly misunderstood. Then we started seeing Lauren, and everything changed. I can't speak highly enough of her and our experience with Smart Talk. She made speech therapy fun and something he looked forward to every week. After less than a year of weekly speech therapy sessions with Lauren my sons articulation is now at the appropriate level for his age,
