Established in 1947 as Preston Metals, Preston. Norstar Steel Recyclers now has its head office located at Laverton North on a 37 acre site where the company has a multi million dollar investment in plant and equipment. The core of our business revolves around the recycling of scrap metals from industrial, commercial and domestic customers.
We can assist with a service that can help you recycle every type of "home style" scrap metal, including fridges*, washing machines, dryers, old stoves, hot water services, old baths, roofing iron, household electrical cables and even the old plumbing.
Our modern fleet of car compactors travel all over Victoria as well as Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales removing stockpiles of car bodies from waste disposal sites, auto dismantling yards and private properties.With our extensive range of mobile plant and equipment which includes balers, car compactors, mobile shears, magnets or grabs, Norstar Steel Recyclers is always ready to clear properties across the state and beyond.

Over the 60+ years Norstar has been recycling metals, we estimate we have recycled over 2,000,000 car bodies, an even greater number of Whitegoods, and thousands of kilometres of Rail line. We have also recycled numerous other scrap metals including trains, trams, buses, trucks, cranes and large range of other vehicle types.
Norstar has dedicated a big part of its founding site at Reservoir to non-ferrous processing. Since 1952, with a dedicated and experienced team of non-ferrous buyers, Norstar Steel Recyclers has helped recycle 100's of thousands of tonnes of various non-ferrous metals over the years. Just scrapped a complete 1.920 tonne Landrover discovery TDI still with cat converter on and only got $240 whats with that and the lady at the window was a grumpy rude person doesn't even help you with understanding your paperwork however they guy that operated the forklift to take car off was very pleasant and more than helpful that made the experience balance out ok but yeah wont be using again thats for sure

All i called to ask was if the scrap metal was the same price per tonne at laverton branch as it is at there bayswater branch!! all i got back was a sour old cranking woman on the other end almost having a go at me!! very dissapointed with the customer service and would think a company of its size wouldnt employ such rude and unhelpfull people to work in a admin position. will never take my scrap metal to norstar again. simz metals are the go always so helpfull and kind nothing is ever a drama with simz
