After a distinguished career as a GP, Stephen Hook identified his passion for diagnosing and delivering medical solutions for skin problems and undertook a range of specialised training programs so that he could bring better solutions for patients.
As a GP with a special interest in skin, he has completed a postgraduate fellowship with The Skin Cancer College of Australasia, a Diploma in Dermatology from the University of Wales and a Diploma in Advanced Cosmetic Medicine from the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine, Dr Hook established Shepparton Skin Clinic, providing advice and care focusing on skin.

The key to successful treatment of skin cancer, especially melanoma is early detection and treatment. All of our practitioners have expertise in screening for malignant melanoma. We use the latest dermatoscopic techniques for diagnosis and are experts in distinguishing between harmless spots and skin cancers.
Our doctors are skilled at performing biopsies and surgical excisions of skin cancer using techniques including flaps and skin grafts to provide the best cosmetic result possible. This was a really disappointing experience. I travelled over an hour to get to the clinic, where I was instructed to go “around the corner” from the main reception to another waiting area and to “just wait if there’s no one there”. The area was in darkness so I waited in the dark like a bat in a cave. My therapist strolled into work after 9am while I was sitting there waiting, then proceeded to tell me the treatment I wanted wasn’t worth the cost (fair enough) but offered me an alternative that required 2 weeks of skin prep with cosmeceuticals (which they could sell me, of course).

The Shepparton Skin Clinic team are absolutely amazing. I very nervously went into to get a small lump removed from my cheek and have never felt more comfortable or at ease during a procedure. The procedure was so quick and both nurse and doctor were very friendly and accommodating to my nerves.

5 stars for my experience at Shepparton Skin Clinic. Monique and Carmella were extremely thorough and understanding when considering the best treatment for Acne. Monique was exceptionally accomodating and knowledgeable, and gave me an in depth explanation of what was going on with the health of my skin and also of the treatment I was receiving. She also recommended the best skin care routine and products for my skin concerns and explained to me the reasons she chose them in my treatment plan. I thought skin care was a scam until I started attending Shepparton Skin Clinic.
I had some skin concerns that I really wanted to improve for my wedding day.
Dannielle was amazing, very understanding and knowledgeable.

Dr Hook was absolutely wonderful, however the reception staff were immovable on the Covid rule of not having anyone else in the waiting room with me (even though there were many spare seats and I saw a mother and daughter come in later) and made my 87 year old father wait outside in the car on a 41 degree day. We had driven two hours to get to Shepparton and I felt guilty for not cancelling my appointment when they told us this rule. Had this been made clear to us before we left home I would have made other arrangements for my father.

Super friendly staff.
I personaly have a rather rare auto emune disease, and after being to countless gp's and referals to skin specialists, nothing was working. I was sent to see doctor Steven Hook. Who within weeks had solved my severe issues and had me on the correct medication,so i could enjoy a great quality of life.
Yes the wait times are sometimes long, but you have to understand sometimes that some proceedures going on in the clinic take a bit longer than normal, due to circumstance.
