Services
In 2003 we established our vineyard exercising organic practises for pest and disease, from 2008 we have increasingly been actively involved in biodynamic conversion. Under vine is mulched using straw, with strawberry clover allowed to establish a hold on the inner row area. Being blessed by the maritime/cool climate and the moderating effects of the sea breeze, early ripening varieties were chosen.
Basalt Wines uses the specialised wine delivery service at Australia Post to ensure safe delivery of your order. If you choose to have the goods delivered to your home or business and you are not available to accept delivery of your order your package will be securely stored at the local post office for collection.

Lovely food and space. However, one waitress slightly ruined our experience. I would advise to book beforehand to ensure one doesn’t receive the unequal treatment we did. We arrived with no reservation but were encouraged to sit on one of two tables that happened to be under the sun in the midst of summer. We were fine with this and fortunately found a third table under shade but near the cafe’s private shed. Once we sat in the shade, we were informed we had to move due to OHS restrictions. Again we were fine with this… until another group arrived and were permitted to sit at the exact shaded

Good wines but an underwhelming wine tasting experience especially when being charged $15 pp and this fee not being waived if we bought a bottle. We were only provided with a wine list with no proper brief of the wines and seemed the chap serving us had no idea too. We were then left alone to do our own wine tasting with one glass for 5/6 different wines. If you are charging a fee at least ensure you provide a personalised experience. Would probably not go back.

Nice food, wine and service. But beware of the group packages. My advice is know exactly how much your paying and what this covers, otherwise you may end up paying double as we were!

Lovely, popped in for a quick tasting ($15pp which is fine as I don’t feel guilty if I don’t feel like buying anything) and met the beautiful dog! The sparkling and Riesling were especially good. If I had a bit more time, I would’ve definitely loved a glass of Riesling in their gorgeous outdoor area overlooking the vineyard.

They’ll charge $10 for a tasting on top of any bottle you buy. Bit odd. Don’t really understand as there’s just a card provided for tasting information and it comes out on a board in little plastic cups. The wines good but experience if you’re just passing by poor

Located along the coast between Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Table service wine tastings offered. Delicious selection of local produce platters to enjoy along with wines by the glass/ bottle.
Indoor, outdoor undercover and lawn seating available. Grass area for the children to run around and views of the vines.
Popular spot, very relaxed and enjoyable.

Recommended site to visit by Raj at the Best Western Olde Maritime hotel in Warrnambool, Australia. A short distance away, roughly 15 miles, we arrived and tried the wine tasting. Two whites ( a pinot grigio and a chardonnay ) and four reds ( including a delicious shiraz and equally delicious tempranillo ). The old vine shiraz ( 2017 ) won us over, and we ended up ordering a bottle along with two appetizers to enjoy outside on their patio ( The sliced chorizo sausage and the chips w/aioli ). Got the chance to meet the vintner/owner Shane Clancey and had a enjoyable conversation with him. Basalt

Great little winery just off the A1 enroute to Port Fairy, as you wind down the Great Ocean Road journey from Warrnambool. Awesome selections of wines and the cheese board is to die for. The best part is they serve up Cuban cigars, the highlight of any wine pairing experience, the good red, fresh cheese and a fine stogie. Wine sommelier and owner both were very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended!
