Poppy's Cottage (only 5 min from Armidale) is the perfect stopover on the New England Highway between Sydney & Brisbane/Gold Coast - or the charming and peaceful holiday destination for that much needed "getaway-from-it-all" restful break. An unforgettable, warm, and friendly farmstyle Bed & Breakfast experience awaits you in this romantic and cosy atmosphere.

Enjoy the history behind this settlers' cottage which was built as a residence for gold miners at Hillgrove circa 1860, and transported by bullock team in 1901 to its present location when the farmhouse was built. The charming historic farmhouse on 140 acre farm has been home to our family along with a menagerie of dogs, ducks, hens, cattle and various other farmyard animals - and they are all very friendly!

Fantastic holiday stay for family or couple if you wish to enjoy the peaceful and timeless world, with books, music, animals etc. Sassy is a friendly smart dog always running in front of Poppy and Jack, the host of property, who gives a warm welcoming on your arriving:) You will know Lily and Coki later on. What a wonderful place!

We visited with our two girls 5 and 7yrs. Poppy and Jack were so welcoming and had lots of little touches including home baked bread and jam. The cottage was small but well equipped to eat in. Our girls loved the trampoline, collecting the eggs, walking up the volcanic plug, patting the horse and playing with the dog. It was a lovely homely place to rest after a day of bush walking or visiting the brewery or art gallery.

Beautiful cottage, in the countryside, just outside Armidale. Poppy and Jack are delightful hosts and good company, should you value a chat, or wish to find out about the local area. This is a perfect location for families; the children will love all the friendly animals. Delicious teas, cookies and cooked breakfast. Lots to do and see, in the New England surrounds. Recommended.

We spent a great couple of days at Poppy's cottage at the end of December. Our girls loved the animals (particularly playing with Sassy the border collie and collecting the eggs from the chooks). We loved the quiet, peaceful surrounds, the warm hospitality, and the garden. Thanks to Poppy and Jake for making our stay so memorable. Paul and Anna.

We recently spent five days at Poppy's Cottage – what a gem! Poppy and Jake are excellent hosts. While the cottage is almost heritage listed, being over 100 years old, it is well equipped with comfortable beds, very efficient heating (Armidale can get cold), and yummy goodies from Poppy's kitchen. Even a glass of port is on tap.
Each morning a breakfast fit for a King (and Queen) is served. The fruit medley was always very fresh, tasty and generous in serving size. An excellent choice of cereals and muesli is available. This is followed with a cooked breakfast served with Jake's home made bread
