The formation of the Mildura and District Ballet Guild in 1959 was the result of much ground work in the previous year and, indeed, owes much of its existence to the tenacity of one woman, Joyce, Mrs. Lester Davey. By the 1950s there were still several teachers of what was then called 'musical comedy dancing'.
The Guild is run by a Committee of twelve (12) volunteers and the Committee would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Guild. We look forward to meeting you and your child and hope that your child enjoys dancing with the Guild. The Guild has a monthly meeting for all committee members held on the second Tuesday of each month.
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is an international teacher education and awarding organisation for dance. It was established in 1920 as the Association of Operatic Dancing of Great Britain, granted a Royal Charter in 1936 and renamed the Royal Academy of Dancing. In 1999 it became the Royal Academy of Dance.
2008 marked the 75th Anniversary of the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). The Society had its beginnings in 1933 with the formation of the National Examination System and the Victorian Society of Dancing. Established in 1931 and 1933 respectively, the two organisations were founded to establish Examination Standards and to raise the standard of dance in Australia.
