The Learning Cottage is founded on our holistic approach to learning, meaningful relationships and a safe, home like environment. We believe all children should be treated with equality and their linguistic diversity should be embraced and acknowledged. We encourage each child's uniqueness and strive to provide an environment where children's interests, creativity, curiosity and sense of agency is provided.
The Learning Cottage - Lismore was our first location and was founded on our holistic approach to learning, meaningful relationships and a safe, home like environment. We would like to acknowledge the Widjabul people of the Bundjalung Nation who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, live, learn and play.
Formally known as 'Little Angels', The Learning Cottage Wollongbar has taken on new management. This 46 place service is conveniently located between Ballina and Goonellabah, providing care between the ages of 6 months- 6 years, operating Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm. Our outstanding team of educators have crafted the rooms and routines to support you and your families individual needs within a caring, welcoming and sustainable environment.
The Learning Cottage's environment has been designed and adapted to promote a calm, comfortable and home-like learning space. This is embodied throughout the building, such as our portico entrance, light and neutral colour scheme and polished timber floors. The heritage of the building (as a hospital over a 100 years ago) extends upon this through raised ceilings, large open spaces and heritage features.
In order for children to connect and grow as competent members of society from a young age, an enriching educational program is paramount. School readiness doesn't necessarily mean that children need to be able to read, write and do basic maths before starting at school.
School readiness is about the development of the child, their ability to problem solve socially, regulate their emotions, be confident in their actions while having the ability to participate and learn in a classroom setting.
