Founder George Baird, with the support of his wife Shaneen Baird, established George's Front End Loader Hire in 1994 with 2 loaders that he had purchased from another business man. Part of the work the loaders were doing was rail work. This was back in the day when footy shorts were part of the standard rail worker uniform.
George had no experience operating Front End Loaders but took it upon himself to learn on the job. Quite a few of the QR bosses we work with today will tell stories of working with George in the early days. They say he was one of the worst operators. He went on to build a successful business with a fleet of approximately 20 machines and established major customers in the Rail, Recycling and general Materials handling sectors in SEQ.

At the premises at Willawong we have a 5 bay workshop with 5-tonne gantry crane and full washdown facility for the machines. We employ diesel fitters that are mobile and so can perform on-site servicing and maintenance when required. Our fitters have a wealth of knowledge on servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repairs, modifications to heavy machinery and knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
To further assist our customers to keep their operations running smoothly, we offer an Earthmoving Tyre fitting service. Mark Hibbert (Tyrbro) is a highly experienced, qualified and respected Earthmoving Tyre Fitter. We have equipped him with a fully provisioned, mine site compliant Earthmoving Tyre Service Truck including remote controlled folding boom crane adapted for tyre handling.
George's Loader Hire will supply a reliable machine to suit your needs, promptly delivered and backed up with service and straight forward administration. GLH maintains a fleet of mainly late model, low hour VOLVO loaders. We have flexible hire arrangements and work in with your project management, operational, safety, logistical and budget requirements.
