Services
Charlesworth Ballet School offers Classical Ballet training to dancers between the ages of 4 and 17 years old. It bases its programme off the Vaganova method of training, which it has been delivering to CBS students since the early '90s. The Vaganova technique is a ballet training system derived by the Russian Dancer and pedagogue, Agrippina Vaganova.
We offer our Preparatory classes to children that are 4 years old, who are also eligible to attend four-year-old Kindy. Children who are not yet old enough to begin our Preparatory programme can enrol for our Pre-school dance programme Kindy Dance Time. The Preparatory Programme is designed for children who are ready to dance independently in a class environment.
Pre-Primary ballet classes provide the opportunity for each child to develop musical awareness, good posture and coordination, and to cultivate imagination, confidence and concentration, whilst being introduced to the first basic positions of Classical Ballet. The children learn through enjoyment, with lessons including topics and themes relating to their age and development.
Grade One ballet lessons continue to nurture each child's unique dance 'quality'. Simple classical ballet steps are introduced building on basic positions taught in Pre-Primary. We further develop their imagination and acting ability by the continuing focus on musicality and improvisation. Classes of 45 minutes are held once a week during the term, with some Grade One programs run in conjunction with the Grade Two level class.
Classes at this level involve the introduction of new exercises of the Classical Ballet technique, including extended development of musicality, dance steps, coordination and improvisation. Classes of 45 minutes are held once a week during the term. Grade Two classes held in conjunction with the Grade One level will run for 60 minutes, to allow those in Grade 2 level separate and concentrated time to work on skills specific to them.
