Moisture and evaporation is a part of earth's cycle where the wind disperses it. As dwellings are built on the ground this locks in humidity and is entrapped in the sub-floor whereby moisture can go nowhere except into your home. Sub-terranean moisture from rain and stormwater run-off finds its way into the sub-floor area as higher evaporation rates and storms are more frequent during the summer periods.
The use of natural ventilation should facilitate aeration in the sub-floor, however wind through passive vents is not always forthcoming which is very inconsistent. When humidity in the sub-floor become elevated and mix with organic substances such as mycelium or fungus it creates a pungent odour which will penetrate into the habitable area, this allows for mould growth if left unchecked.

Services
In the 1970's a Telecom engineer created a fan-forced ventilation system for sub-floor areas that would replace passive vents whether brick size or terracotta size. As now clients can take control of their sub-floor ventilation needs and not be at the mercy of the wind or the lack of it to aerate their sub-floor areas.
Extract over 5,500 litres per minute of damp air from your sub-floor area while preventing termites and mould from spreading into your home. The Envirofan Quad-Fan is quiet at only 27 decibels@1m, has low voltage (or can be solar powered), and only costs $4-$6 per fan annually. Extract over 7,000 litres per minute of damp air from your sub-floor area while preventing termites and mould from spreading into your home.
The purpose of a sub-floor ventilation system for your home is to extract the damp humid air and to displace it with fresh air from and into the sub-floor area. The same principle also applies to heat. Powered roof ventilation systems extract the hot air while allowing cooler air to enter the roof space.

A must for musty houses
Quick deliver, easy installation, great follow up. Have connected to solar for daytime running and mains power on a timer for nighttime running when no sun in Melbourne. Found great results With less musty smells inside house after 2-3 days of running. Expect this will get better with more time.

Christine from Envirofan is EXCEPTIONAL! Her customer service is second to none and she well and truly exceeds expectations, going above and beyond to help her customers. That has been our experience! The fans themselves have been just as good, drying out our very damp subfloor (some would have said “wet”!) in just a few months, allowing us to also extend our termite inspections from 6 monthly to the usually recommended, annual inspection. The fans are super quiet, very cheap to run and extremely effective. I cannot recommend Christine and Envirofan highly enough – 5 stars is simply not enough

We bought a double brick house that had some moisture under the floor, with a nasty musty smell developing in the bedroom. We did have pre purchase building inspection, that advice proved to be very disappointing with respect to the subfloor moisture problems.
The subfloor space was restricted, so we arranged for a builder to crawl under the house, taking a number of photos, numbered according to a floor plan of the house. Lots of water very damp soil, with moisture seen on the terra cotta pipes under the 3 bathrooms - looked like the pipes were broken or blocked and leaking. Very disappointed
