Services
Helicopter emergency response, remote access transport and advanced pilot training are complex tasks requiring specialist skills and equipment. Kestrel is a leading force in Australia in these fields. Kestrel provides emergency response and firefighting support with its fleet of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, including the versatile heavy-lift Erickson Aircrane and Sikorsky S-70 Blackhawk.
Kestrel is a leader in the aviation firefighting industry, having evolved from the early days of operating light single-turbine helicopters with water buckets to the current powerful fleet of medium helicopters, Aircranes and Blackhawks with advanced delivery systems. Kestrel is committed to developing innovative systems and techniques.
In 2010, having outgrown its facilities, Kestrel purchased a property adjacent to Mangalore Airport, where it has constructed a 2000 square metre complex which houses a large hangar space, workshop areas, dedicated Operations Centre, simulator centre, crew rooms, administration and crew accommodation.
Led by Kestrel founder and Managing Director, Captain Ray Cronin, Kestrel's team comprises a number of Australia's most highly skilled and qualified aviators. Their backgrounds include charter and executive transport, airline operations, emergency medical services, search and rescue, offshore and military service.
For those coming by car from Melbourne, the trip takes about 1 hour from the airport or 1 hours from the city. Take the Hume Freeway from the northern suburbs of Melbourne, head north and turn off on the Goulburn Valley Highway (Shepparton) exit. This is about 50 minutes from the Western Ring Road intersection.
