FORSYTHS has been a trusted advisor to generations of families in Mackay and Queensland since 1949. During WW II John joined the RAF and rose to the rank of Squadron Leader and won several bravery awards including the DFC. After the war John studied to become an accountant and in 1949 he bought a small bookkeeping service in Wood Street where he was joined by his brother David Forsyth and Aldo Romagnolo.

Born in Mackay and raised on the family farm at Narpi, Ed attended the local state school and later Calen High. He completed his senior education at Abergowrie Agricultural College and returned to the farm. When the farm was sold Ed went to work for the Commonwealth Bank. Then later he and his wife Lisa bought and operated the Park Store for several years before Ed took up a position with Forsyths in 1989/90.
