The high-powered Coherent 10kW direct diode D-series laser unit is the latest and most powerful laser cladding system of its type in Australia. The robotic cell includes capacity for welding 30 tonne jobs, up to 3m diameter and 10m long. Avweld Boasts some of the most advanced material processing systems available in Australia.

Avweld operate across a broad spectrum of Industries throughout Australia and South-East Asia. Located in Melbourne, VIC, Avweld Australasia is an experienced provider of metal spray, weld hardfacing, wear plate, repair and maintenance solutions for a spectrum of heavy industries. Through our extensive experience, advanced facilities and technical capacities we are able to provide tailored solutions for wear minimisation and machine longevity.
Services
Avweld Australasia Pty Ltd is a privately owned Melbourne manufacturing and maintenance engineering company specialising in wear prevention. Our technologies include weld and thermal spray overlays, composite coatings. Operating since 1986, Avweld focus on providing materials engineering expertise with large scale manufacturing capacity.
In late 2020 Avweld have commissioned our brand new robotic laser cladding system. The high-powered Coherent 10kW direct diode D-series laser unit is the latest and most powerful laser cladding system of its type in Australia. The robotic cell includes capacity for welding 30 tonne jobs, up to 3m diameter and 10m long.
Hardfacing - term used for restoring parts, that have been worn down due to metal-to-metal friction or severe impact, to their original dimensions. Avweld use Hardfacing (the application of a hard material onto a machinery surface) to prevent wear through abrasion, erosion, corrosion or impact. Avweld apply various types of hardfacing to give your equipment the longest life in the harshest environments.
Recently upgraded robotic cladding & hardfacing capacity comprising 2 x 40kg 2.7m reach ABB 6-axis robots together on a 10m long track working with 2 x 2-axis 5 tonne robotic positioners. These two robots can operate individually on different jobs or with co-ordinated motion on one job, depending on size and complexity.
Plasma-Transferred Arc (PTA) welding is the most advanced welding process available for situations involving extreme abrasion. The robotically applied process uses ionised gas to create a very controlled heat-input. The low heat results in minimum distortion and dilution, which enables maximum hardness in a single layer.
