Services
Broken Hill is a mecca for tourists, artists, film makers, photographers and adventure seekers. Built on a rich history of mining, Broken Hill is Australia's first heritage listed city and a must see on your bucket list of Australian adventures.

From the beautiful colonial architecture of our city buildings to the fascinating history of Australian mining, Broken Hill is a capsule of Australian spirit and survival - easy to explore on your own self-guided tours or with the benefit of a wealth of local knowledge and wicked sense of humour on one of our inhouse Away Tours options.
Bells Milk Bar is a Broken Hill icon and must visit during your stay. The Bells Milk Bar team has been dishing out its famous milkshakes, sodas and spiders for decades. Stepping inside the milk bar is like stepping back in time with the original 1950s dcor still on show and the 'latest' hits from that era still playing.
There are more than 20 galleries in Broken Hill. In fact, galleries outnumber pubs. Typical of the city's colourful character is the art and attitude of the late Kevin "Pro" Hart. You can see Pro's direct and humorous approach expressed in so much local art. Take time to chat with the artists about their authentic, down-to-earth lives and you'll understand where it comes from.
This comprehensive museum incorporates the Broken Hill Migrant Museum, Hospital Museum, Ron Carter Transport Pavilion and Triple Chance Mineral Collection, providing a unique look at Broken Hill's fascinating history. The museum also houses a range of railway attractions and machinery, including the Silver City Comet, and an extensive mineral collection.
The explorer Major Thomas Mitchell followed the Bogan and Darling Rivers down to this area in 1835 and came across the naturally formed Lakes which he named 'Laidley's Chain of Ponds', the Barkindji people referred to these as 'Wontanella' meaning 'Many Waters'. The awe inspiring Living Desert Sculptures are deservedly the most iconic and photographed attraction in Broken Hill.

Stayed two nights this week and was excellent. Bed was comfy and facilities were too notch. And at a very good price. Having moved away from town for ten years I was glad to see the Sturt motel was still a great place to stay. I was late and they even made sure I got in ok after office hours. Thanks for a great stay

Super friendly and accommodating staff, lovely comfortable and quiet room.
We are campers but after 17 weeks into an 8 week trip we wanted a roof over our heads.
We initially rang for a cabin at the Caravan Park, due to COVID it’s closed and the staff offered us three options at their motel. We chose the room with a kitchenette - it had new appliances and the basics that you need for putting together a easy, healthy meal. We will definitely be back, love Broken Hill

Smallish rooms and intermittent wifi. Can get noisy with heavy vehicle traffic on main road. Caravan park and cabins were closed off and quarantined last week.

Very nice and modern refurbished room, but the bathroom hasn't been updated. The plumbing in the shower needs work as the water that went down the drain made its way up again and back onto the shower’s floor after a loud gurgling sound from the basin, but apart from that, I had a great sleep and would probably stay again. Note: it's a bit out of town and need to drive to where the action is.

We stayed in a family room (one double one single). it’s located on the highway into Broken Hill from SA but not noisy as rooms are set back from the road. it was very spacious p, light, welcoming and above all clean. it had a large microwave toaster kettle crackle crockery and utensils. the rooms are arranged around the courtyard and parking was in close proximity to our unit it was super clean very very good Wi-Fi.. we’ve stayed in many motels on our trip around Australia and this is one of the best if not the best.

Had a great night staying here, parked the car just in front of our room. The room is spacious and completed with all the stuff you need such as microwave, kettle and fridge. Really comfortable! The reception that greeted me that day was really friendly. I would definitely recommend to friends and won’t hesitate to stay here again.

Overall a very pleasant and solid experience. Booked a twin room for two people with a stay three days pay two deal. Had a few issues with their booking interface, but once booked, the staff were good in communicating with us and ensuring that we knew the booking had succeeded, and that we would arrive at a suitable time.
Once we arrived, a staff member was quick to respond to assist us and gave us good information about major local services and attractions. It was also a very warm day and they had left the air conditioner on for us, which was good. The accommodation was clean and neat, and linen
