Hello and welcome to Pinocchio Early Learning Centre, a privately owned and operated education and care service for children birth to five years. We have two campuses in Canberra, centrally located in Curtin on the Southside and Dickson on the Northside. Founded by our owner and operator Kate Cairns over 10 years ago, Pinocchio Dickson is highly regarded within the community, providing high quality education and care for children.
We are proud to be expanding into South Canberra and look forward to continuing to provide the high level of service our families have come to expect and deserve. We believe that children learn best through play and aim to provide an environment where children feel valued and safe to explore and learn through meaningful interactions and experiences.

Services
At Pinocchio Early Learning Centre, we aim to provide high quality education and care for all children. The principles of the Early Years Learning Framework Belonging, Being and Becoming (EYLF) underpin our everyday practices as we support children to achieve learning and developmental outcomes. We support children's sense of wellbeing through respectful and nurturing relationships and flexible, predicable routines.
Reggio Emilia's approach to early childhood education refers to the environment as the "third teacher". Our learning environments have been designed to create a sense of wonder and ensure spaces are responsive to children's interests and abilities. Play based learning experiences are arranged to excite and engage children and reflect family and community involvement.
Consistency is fundamental in ensuring babies and young children feel safe and secure in their learning environment. Pinocchio is committed to the retention of quality educators who are passionate about early childhood education and care. Positive and respectful relationships promote the development of a strong sense of well-being in children.
The five learning outcomes of the EYLF provide a basis for our educators to facilitate children's learning and development through a month-long curriculum cycle. Educators are responsive to children's idea's and play, and these along with parent input, the service philosophy, relevant theorists and critical reflection inform curriculum decision making.
Children's learning is assessed as part of our ongoing curriculum cycle. These written assessments are made available to families throughout the year and provide an overview of children's learning and progress. Opportunities for parent interviews are provided throughout the year and as required.
Information nights provide opportunities for educators to showcase children's learning and share relevant knowledge about early childhood education and care.Parent orientation evenings are held throughout the year to support families with transitions within the centre. Regular emails, centre displays and notices, parent surveys and our Instagram account are also platforms through which we share and collaborate with families.
