We are all about running a real hotel at the Star Bar! The Star Bar has seen some big renovations over the last 13 years, with extensions opening up the main bar to create Alburys best TAB area, and an extended outdoor area. With new ownership we have seen more extensions to the outdoor area with a double sided fireplace installed and another Shed with space to cater for your next special occasion.
The Star Bar has been known for decades as the sporting hub of Albury, it is frequented by players from all sporting codes and is particularly well known as the meeting place for members of the horse racing fraternity in Albury. Over time, several generations of local families have called the Star their "local".

In 1874 the Star Hotel was opened as the Builders Arms Hotel by James Walsh, it was later named the Star Hotel By Mrs Jane Poole who took over as licencee in 1879. History states that many of the licencees of the Star were big into racing and sports in the town, supporting local teams and keeping up with all aspects of Racing.
The Star Hotel Sports Bar is better than being at the track. Our patrons have the latest technology available in the new self contained TAB area with five betting terminals, with one situated in our iconic shed in front of the 2 biggest screens for the front row view. We also have a new Keno terminal and there are 59 TV screens throughout the hotel for sports lovers to watch all the action.
The Star Hotel has a long lasting reputation for high quality, affordable and delicious food. Our menu changes seasonally so make sure you check out our latest dishes. When ordering be sure to ask our staff which wines and ciders will best compliment your meals. We have formal and informal dining areas, with an outstanding beer garden perfect for year round outdoor dining.
The Beer Garden and newly renovated "Sheds" can comfortably fit up to 150-200 people for private functions, both areas can be sectioned which make it perfect for more intimate functions or just a private space for after the races with friends. The bistro area is perfect for sporting groups and family gatherings.
