Montessori Stepping Stones
A Montessori early learning centre and pre-school educates by harnessing and protecting a child's natural drive to grow and learn. Choice, peer-learning, hands-on experiences and individualised as well as independent learning, are facilitated by the varying interactions with educators and teachers that occur throughout the child's developmental stages from 0 - 12 years of age.

It is a early learning centre and pre-school experience that fosters a child's desire to discover more and use what is understood in creative ways; not just in school, but in life. Montessori Stepping Stones early learning centre and outside of school hours care is one such experience.
Services
We are located between the Devine Mercy College and the Mater Christi Primary School, at 332 Yangebup Rd, Yangebup. Just minutes away from the Cockburn Gateway shopping centre, Beeliar Primary School, Yangebup Primary School, South Coogee Primary School and the Community Centre on Dunraven Dr. We provide both long day care and out of school hours care (OSHC) services at Montessori Stepping Stones.
In the past, when Mankind's store of knowledge was relatively fixed and limited, the most efficient care and education consisted of some form of "baby-sitting", drill, and/or memorisation. In today's world, an era of such technological revolution and socio-economical change, the foundation of a good care and education is to learn how to learn as an individual.
No one can emphasize enough the importance of brain development in early childhood education. Today's developing technology and research have allowed us to learn more about the brain, how it works, and the critical periods for its development. We now know that through conducted research, that an enriched environment actually increases brain size (Diamond and Hopson, 1998).
Creativity may seem important only for people who are involved in the artistic trade. Yet more and more in our society we see the real value of it. There have been links between creativity and problem-solving abilities (Moyles, 1999), and increasing the ability to "think outside of the box". If this is true then creativity is therefore significant if we are to encourage and help children be an independent and productive citizen of society.
Most modern educational philosophy centres around the theory that growth, development, and learning occur on a steady linear continuum from birth to early adulthood. Dr Montessori's philosophy on how humans learn differs in some key ways: she believed learning for children and youth occurred in waves.

I went to this school from preschool to 3rd grade and it was simply incredible. I remember learning all of the capitals in the world. We even learned German! Like what school does that these days. Ms Diane was amazing and I still have a book she gave to me with a personal message. Truly wish we had a school like this where I live.

I love that my daughter has a smile on her face going to school : ) She has been at MSS for over 6 years and has not once said she didn't want to go! She loves and respects her teachers and receives the same in return from them. I could not ask for a better school for her to spend her preschool, elementary, and middle school years at!! Thank you to all the wonderful teachers and friends we have made at MSS!

I had the privilege of attending Montessori Stepping Stones from preschool through 5th grade. The education I received formed a strong foundation which helped me to succeed in an International Baccalaureate high school, college, and now graduate school. In addition to academic skills and a love of learning, I also left with lifelong friends. The school culture fosters the development of caring, confident, inquisitive, and open-minded individuals. Students leave MSS well-prepared for whatever adventure awaits them next.

How many people can honestly say that they love going to work? Well, I do! Our school is such a warm and friendly environment for the staff and children, and I am thankful to be a part of the amazing amount of learning and discovery that is happening here. At Montessori Stepping Stones, students learn with beautiful materials from certified teachers in an atmosphere that allows them to stretch themselves without a fear of failure. I only wish I knew more about this method when my own children were young. They would have loved this school!

I fell in love with Montessori Stepping Stones the first moment I stepped inside. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the classrooms were gorgeous and filled with beautiful displays of Montessori materials. That was more than nine years ago and now I have two children that attend Montessori Stepping Stones. Through the authentic Montessori environment, both of them have been able to explore and develop a love of learning in a safe atmosphere of acceptance created by a warm and caring staff. As a result, they have been able to develop into the amazingly unique individuals that they are and

As the owner and director of Montessori Stepping Stones, I have had the privilege of building and developing our school since 1983. Not only do the staff, parents, and students bring daily personal joy to my life; this school continues to be my work of passion. I hope to meet with you to share the details!

During my tour as a prospective parent, I was met with a friendly, positive and informed lifelong educator and a beautifully prepared, authentic Montessori environment. I left knowing that this peaceful, affirming school is where I hoped my children would spend their days. Four years later, I am just as confident in my decision. Each of my three children has a different temperament, and a unique set of strengths and challenges. I can tell that their teachers care for them as people and interact with them thoughtfully - with purpose, respect and understanding. Problem solving is handled with creativity

I hold a bachelors and a masters degree in the subject of music, and have been a teacher for 35 years. I came to Montessori 25 years ago, and I hope to never leave . From the first moment, I could sense something different in the students. They were kind and respectful. This comes from a very highly trained and certified Montessori staff.I myself, was trained in the Montessori music program from Sanford Jones, a certified master Montessorian from Bergamo, Italy. I can tell you that your children could not be in better hands.

Upon deciding to send my son to a Montessori school I visited several schools. I remember making my decision to enroll him at Montessori Stepping Stones before the end of the tour. I cannot be more happy with that choice. He began in the infant/toddler program and continued into the preschool program. The teachers are wonderful and the environment is beautiful and encourages peace. I am truly thankful for the caring and compassionate teachers and administrators at Montessori Stepping Stones.
