These Classes are BJJ without the Gi (kimono), wearing only official Gracie Barra Shorts and Rash Top. Students enrolled in the GB2 & GB3 program can attend the No Gi Classes. These classes are faster and more advanced classes. Unlike any program out there, BarraFit will meet your fitness and safety needs by getting you in the best shape of your life while learning solo drills in a HIIT style fitness formate.

Gracie Barra Hunter Valley was founded in 2013 by Professor Gene DeCrewis (Geno) " I believe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will change your life". BJJ is the fastest growing Martial Arts in the world, and we are humbled to have a premium Martial Arts school location in the Hunter Region. We were located in High Street Maitland from 2013 - 2019.
Jiu-Jitsu is a beautiful martial art, and we have a vision of how it should be taught as a means for individual development going beyond the competitive realm. To achieve this vision, we must remember to come together as a family, always putting the team in front of individual. For that, we will fight to the end for what we believe is right.
I am very happy at Gracie Barra Hunter Valley. Karen and Geno have a great facility and great systems in place, always very professional and helpful. Thank you to you both and the rest of the other Coaches and Professors for doing such an amazing job! I joined GBHV in January (2017) and I haven't looked back.
The Gracie Barra BJJ Martial Arts Program Structure defines three main stages of development for students: the GB' Program - Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals, the GB Program - Advanced Jiu-Jitsu, and the GB Program - Expert Jiu-Jitsu. These stages indicate different maturity levels and students upgrade from one to the other in their own natural progression.
Get your kids off the screens and into a worthwhile pass time. We know for some of you this will be no simple task. If you do, we can promise you that the 2-3 hours a week they spend at our school will benefit them in many ways. Today's children are faced with many challenges in life from bullying to an unhealthy lifestyle.

The team at GB Hunter Valley really value their students. They host a warm welcoming environment and know how to challenge your child to be the best that they can be whilst nurturing their individuality. My daughters have been training at GBHV for 3 years. Professor Gene, Coach Karen and the team make every person who comes through the doors feel welcome. The girls can’t imagine the thought of training anywhere else or missing a day.
The skills they’ve gained go so far beyond the awesome training, they have become stronger, more resilient and capable young girls and a massive part of that is thanks to GBHV. We can’t recommend them highly enough.

Gracie Barra Hunter Valley is my home away from home. It’s the place I go when I want to unwind, see my friends and do some BJJ! Right now I’m out of commission due to a fairly major surgery but I’ll be back as soon as I can!
