SD Design Studios is a young, dynamic, innovative design studio founded by Som Datta located Perth, Australia. The principal Som's background is in Design and Project Management with about 15 years of practical experience in Building Design during which he has worked for some of best architectural firms in India and Australia, including working with Pritzker Prize Laureate Dr. B.V. Doshi.
Som is an overseas qualified Architect and has completed his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from a reputed Indian University and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) [Builder's Registration] from Tafe, Western Australia. Som is passionate about architecture and believes that the best designs are those which are minimalist in style yet able to fulfill the complex spatial needs of its users.

At SDDS, we believe that the built environment is more than a four walled enclosure that we reside in for protection from the elements or a style statement made of brick and mortar. So we strive to design meaningful spaces that would allow its occupants to feel nurtured rather than only sheltered and 'live' rather than only 'sustain'.
