AcuAyur Holistic Health Centre was established in 2005. The Centre is owned by Dr. Kusum Lata. She is a Registered Acupuncturist with AHPRA and Ayurvedic Doctor accredited professional member with ATMS & AAA. She is a passionate holistic health practitioner in the modality of Acupuncture and Ayurvedic Medicine.
My name is Kusum Lata and I am a Doctor of Acupuncture & Ayurvedic medicine at AcuAyur Holistic Health Centre. I established my practice in Burwood East, Melbourne, Victoria in 2005. AcuAyur Holistic Health Centre is the only practice in Victoria which provides both modalities; Acupuncture & Ayurveda under the one practice, and thus the name AcuAyur Holistic Health Centre.
Acupuncture is an important and popular modality of Chinese medicine with history of almost 3000 years back. It is still used extensively today to treat literally millions of people around the world. Traditional Acupuncturist understands health in terms of a vital force or energy called Qi. In acupuncture treatment, ultra fine sterilized needles are inserted superficially in to specific acupoints.
The acupuncture is a very safe treatment. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising where the needles were inserted. Single use and disposable needles are used, so the risk of infection is very minimal. Not everyone is a good candidate for acupuncture. Have a bleeding disorder.
Due to misconception that acupuncture is painful, some people don't want to try acupuncture. The treatment isn't meant to be painful; you will experience some sensations during your treatment. Most people being treated with Acupuncture do not feel pain but they do feel the sensation of chi (energy).

I highly recommend coming to see Dr Kusum! I decided to go one day to try acupuncture, since then I go every 2-3 weeks to help with my sinuses. I used to need to take antihistamines when I went out, but now I don't need them anymore. It has really helped with my hay fever. Dr Kusum has a great clinic, and offers a wide range of services from acupuncture to traditional Indian remedies - would highly recommend trying!

I have been seeing Kusum for over 2 years initially for sinus and then for sports injuries including plantar fasciitis and a baker cyst and have been amazed at her results .
I happened to mention to her that i I have a heart issue diagnosed 12 months ago and she is now treating me for this and recently my GP couldn’t understand my improvement in this area which I know was due to the Ayurveda tonic that Kusum has put me on..
I therefore would and have recommended her to many people as I can’t believe the results I have had since seeing her.

Great updated website. I have been visiting Dr Kusum Lata at Burwood for a couple of decades. Love the professional & well informed service. Reason I have been here is she was one of the first in Melbourne when Ayurveda was not as known as presently. The natural alternative treatments in acupuncture along with Ayurveda treatments & herbal medicine has helped me in many ways!!! Herbal medicines founded many thousands of years ago compared to plastic medicine 100 years ago is more potent than the synthetic medicine that has many side effects & a band aid more than a cure! I have visited Dr Kusum for a number of ailments over the past 10 years. I developed a skin condition mainly from work stress and tried western medication for over two years with no permanent cure and at significant cost. Dr Kusum advised that she could cure me in 8 weeks with acupuncture and some herbal medication. However after 6 weeks my skin was completely clear with no recurrence and only a few occasional sessions required thereafter when my work stress increased. I have complete faith in this traditional treatment method which is painless and drug free. My wife sees Kusum for bladder issues

I have been attending the Centre for approximately 10 years. Kusum has treated my asthma and hayfever during this time. My health has improved dramatically over this period of time. Now I just maintain my visits and herbs to ensure that I do not suffer in the manner that I did before. I highly recommend the AcuAcyur Holistic Centre and Kunsum, she has done wonders for my health.
