We are a community based childcare centre in Rockhampton with decades of experience in early childhood education. Our program is flexible to meet the needs and interests of the children and to develop skills, abilities and attitudes which lay the foundations for learning. We want you to look often into our busy, happy noisy, creative rooms and see your child at play.
We want you to realise the validity of play and the importance of what your child is learning. We have an open door policy at our childcare centre and we invite you to approach the educators to discuss your child's development. The Early Years Learning Framework describes the principles, practice and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children's learning, from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school.

The Green Tree Frog Kindergarten Room's name comes from the Aboriginal name "Burrura" which means 'Green tree frog' and is derived from the Darumbal language. Here at Elfin House we acknowledge that playing and exploring outside is critical for young children to practice and master their emerging physical skills and learn safely about the world they live in through negotiating and risk taking.
Playing outdoors offers more than just physical benefits, children will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their social and emotional skills which is evident as the children are able to express themselves and learn about the world in their own way.Play supports children's developments as they explore, experiment, manipulate, reconfigure, expand, influence, change, discover, practice and push their own limits.

The natural playgrounds are what really stood out for us and our little boy, especially the water park and mud pit. This year they introduced nappies and the bus service, was a godsend when Peter got sick and we needed that extra bit of help, staff are lovely its very homey and about the children, not a dollar figure.

My grandchild goes to Elfin House, its not the newest centre, but the family environment is gorgeous. Its very welcoming from management to the on floor staff. The ladies in the office are very welcoming and I feel I can discuss anything in regards to his care, my daughter feels the same. My grandson is thriving in this environment and the outdoor playground is amazing. Its a beautiful little community centre that is not about lining someones pocket.
