Mischa's Boxing Central
Website
Boxing Central is a place where old school style meets the brave new world. Based in Footscray, with the city of Melbourne and docks on its doorstep, the gym has the gritty atmosphere of traditional boxing gyms but with a contemporary feel that welcomes all-comers, women especially. Men are a big part of this sport and always will be however, it is the sport that has pride of place at Boxing Central.

The first class is always free and with no lock in contracts there is no excuse not to come by and see how Boxing Central suits you. Make no mistake, this is an authentic boxing gym. But what makes it unique is that it is owned and run by a woman. The MBC coaching team Mischa and Ibrahim and Qamil Balla run these sessions for people who want to spar and compete in amateur, or Olympic style, boxing.

Skip the fad boxing fitness gyms, with all their fancy stuff and celebrity fights, and come here. It's one of the last real boxing gyms in the city, lead by Australian champion Mischa Merz. The gym has cultivated an encouraging community, so you don't need to know anything about boxing to attend. Also runs fighters classes for the pros and PT. Awesome place.

I was a SUPER BEGINNER and did not know what to expect in this class, but the staff were extremely friendly and even taught us boxing basics on the side just so I won't get left out. Definitely a must try if you're from the inner west

Mischa no longer wished to train me despite me telling her at the start I was only interested in getting fit & using her services as a PT. I was never keen on becoming a boxer, she had agreed and taken pre-payment. Halfway through she decided I wasn’t fit enough or motivated enough to work with... pretty judgemental & disappointing considering she isn’t really a personality one can get along with either. Turned out I had severe, underlying medical condition... I wasn’t lazy.

Love these guys. All the trainers are goals af but also so nice and technically brilliant. It's not one of those boxing fitness classes where you're just there to sweat, they actually give you decent training. Mischa's 4 LYF

This place has grit. It feels real and it holds no punches. Not many places like this around anymore. Untouched by the novelty or trends associated with fitness these days. Great place!!!
