Dr David Candler, owner of Skin Alert Cairns, is well known and highly respected for years of successful treatment of skin cancer. His clinic also offers much more to help improve people's lives.
Dr Candler, who has been a GP for more than 25 years and has specialized in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment for the last eleven years, has over recent years expanded his practice through the introduction of cosmetic treatments such as anti-wrinkle and filler injections, and state of the art medical lasers.

Elizabeth has worked in the medical field for over 20 years, and she has worked with Dr Candler at Skin Alert for over 10 years. She has a keen interest in cosmetic nursing, including injectables and laser. As our senior nurse she assists Dr Candler with most of his skin cancer surgeries, and she also performs many of our laser treatments, including the IncontiLase service.

PhotoDynamic Therapy (PDT) is a relatively new treatment option that allows treatment of either specific non-melanoma skin cancers without the need for surgery, or the rejuvenation of whole areas of sun damaged skin. At Skin Alert Cairns, Dr Candler has been treating patients with PhotoDynamic Therapy for over ten years now and has accumulated a vast amount of experience and expertise in this field.
Early detection of skin cancer can reduce the need for more invasive removal of advanced skin cancers. Regularly check your and your family's skin for changes to spots, or any new spots that may arise. My daughter had a mole on her lip she needed removing as it was growing. My own skin doctor referred me to Dr Candler and his team as he said he was the best at this type of work. My daughter is only 6 and all of the staff from receptionists, nurses and Dr Candler were very sweet with her and calmed her (and her mother). They did the Laser work and it worked after 1 shot. At our review appointment I could again not fault the professionalism or the patience they had with my daughter. 100% recommend going here for any future appointments!

I had a suspicious mole and was referred here by GP. I could have had it done at GP but really glad I went here. The skin check was very thorough and it turned out to be a SCC. Then found another BCC on back. Both were excised properly and the scarring was minimal which is good considering where the first one was located on neck. Excellent stitching and professional treatment. Thanks!

I have been attending Skin Alert for over a decade and have had many and varied Skin Cancers removed over the years by Dr Candler including Melanoma. Dr Candler's precision as a surgeon has meant significantly reduced scarring for me, and his decades of experience in identifying skin lesions has always given me complete faith in his most capable hands. I have had skin cancers removed at many locations throughout cairns and indeed Australia, and found that Dr Candler was beyond doubt the best at finding them, and removing them, I will not use anyone else. He is thorough, cares about the patient, and does nor rush you out the door, taking the extra time to use super fine stitches to avoid scarring. His staff are extremely professional. I do not hesitate to recommend his services. This is a genuine comment from an extreme sufferer of nasty skin cancers.

My visits to Skin Alert for acne and thera-clear treatments have have worked extremely well. With regular treatments I saw a vast improvement in my skin texture and the lessening of active spots.
