An Oasis for Adult guests wanting a peaceful and relaxed stay with superb comfort and great features. Michael & Jane Taylor, the business owners and hosts, also have a Sapphire and Jewellery Business: Taylors Fine Sapphires.

You can browse in their shop for Australian Sapphires and Quality Jewellery or have your special Sapphire appraised for faceting. Michael and Jane are passionate about Australian Sapphires, the Sapphire Gemfields and with over 34yrs experience in Rubyvale, are more than happy to help you plan your ideal Gemfields visit.
Services
SAPPHIRES were first found in the area in the late 1870's and by 1890 commercial mining had begun. Many booms and lows have been part & parcel in the life as a Gem prospector. Australian Sapphires dominated the world's supply of Sapphire in the 1970's & 80's. The harsh and hard digging conditions belay the fact that many world famous sapphires have been found, with many more to come.
The 'Gems by Day, Jewels by Night' Observatory is a fascinating tour into the wonders of the night sky above the Sapphire Gemfields. While the sapphires take up your day activities, the outback sky provides diamond nights. The powerful 14 Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is perfect for seeing the magnificent clusters and colours of stars throughout the constellations.
My girlfriend and I were travelling Australia for a year. On our way to Carnarvon Gorge we stopped in the tourist info centre in Emerald and found a flyer promoting the gem fields. We thought we'd spend a night but wound up spending 4! We rented equipent and got a license to try our hand at fossicking, checked out the local market and bought some watercolour artwork, but mainly, we browsed through many many sapphire and gem shops!
Michael is an awarding winning Gemmologist and Jane is a Gem Cutter and they both love living and working in Rubyvale. We came to the Sapphire Gemfields on our honeymoon in 1986 it was an exciting time as the area was having a successful mining period - Gem Fever Struck! So we immediately started mining and this success led to the opening of our shop 'Taylors Fine Sapphires' in Rubyvale.

Our second stay in these units and we have enjoyed it as much as the first time. Units are clean and comfortable and everything for self catering is provided. The locality is very quiet and close to town facilities. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. We would recommend it anyone looking for accommodation in this area.

The only place to stay when visiting the Gemfields. Not only are the units fantastic, the owners, Jane and Michael are ideal hosts. And there's the pool...enough saId. Walking distance - if you're energetic - of the best Tourist attraction in the area, Miners Heritage, a must do experience, but also the pub, shop, cafe and library, not to mention the tennis courts. Best to book during the peak winter 'season' and especially the Gemfest (August) period

Nice clean units, set back from the road.
No food is served here, so you have to go into the town, and the local pub closes its kitchen at 8(?)pm, though it can still serve other food till a bit later.
Popular with grey nomads, so do consider the time of year for your trip
