In all matters, our goal is to achieve the best possible result in the most cost effective manner. We are a commercial law firm located in Ballina and serving all of the NSW Northern Rivers area.
Local government and planning are highly specialised areas of the law. Michael Young is one of only a small number of NSW Law Society accredited specialists in Local Government and Planning. If you are developing property you will need our help in drafting easements and covenants, strata by-laws or community management statements. Sometimes joint venture agreements, agreements for lease or commercial leases are necessary. If your self managed super fund is borrowing to purchase investment property or you are buying property with others you need someone who can provide the required documents.
If you do not make a legal will, your estate will be distributed using a fixed formula determined by the government. In addition to a basic Will you might consider a Testamentary Trust, Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship or an Advance Directive. A general power of attorney allows your attorney to act on your behalf in relation to any financial transactions.
Jonathan joined the firm in late 2012 after leaving Sydney where he studied law and worked as a solicitor. Local Government and Planning: advising and acting for councils, conducting local government prosecutions, compulsory acquisitions, Land and Environment Court proceedings and appeals, local court proceedings involving environmental offences, and acting for developers and landowners in relation to compliance action by councils.

I engaged the services of Mr John Velos and his legal firm Velos & Velos Lawyers to negotiate a settlement dispute between myself and the Department of Human Services – Centrelink Office. The situation was very stressful and demanding.
Mr John Velos and staff were very understanding and compassionate of my situation and acted in a very professional, efficient and timely manner. Mr John Velos was able to negotiate a fair and reasonable settlement with regular monthly repayments and thus I avoided being declared bankrupt.
I do not hesitate in recommending Mr John Velos and his dedicated staff
