Leigh is a professional maternity and newborn fine art photographer based in Melbourne. In a career spanning over 20 years, Leigh initially specialised in fashion photography. Her passion now centres around maternity and newborn photography, where she can bring her creative talents and caring social skills to the fore to deliver timeless memories for years to come.
Being pregnant is such a miraculous event in a Mothers life. Why not celebrate it with a maternity photography session? Maternity sessions are the perfect way to remember this exciting and wonderful time in your life. Maternity sessions are best photographed when your bump is nice and round, but you are still feeling good in yourself and comfortable.
Our newborn photography sessions usually take place within the first 10 days following baby's birth. I limit the amount of newborn sessions I accept each month to ensure that each client gets the highest quality of work. It is advisable to book early to avoid missing out. Clients usually book their newborn photography session when they are around 16-20 weeks into their pregnancy to ensure that they secure a booking!
Baby photography sessions generally take place when your baby is 4 - 12 months of age. Baby photography sessions only last about an 1 - 1.5 hours as babies get bored really quickly and start to loose concentration which invariably ends in tears. During our baby photography sessions we love to capture the wide eyes, innocent smiles and contagious giggles that as parents, we want to remember forever!
We also have a wardrobe of dresses for little girls, and big girls up to 6 years of age. We recommend that little boys wear pain subdued neutral colours to match the tones of the session. We have a small range of white T-shirts for little boys to wear during their child photography session. Please kindly note that Child photography sessions are for children and babies only.

Leigh is very professional and responsive to all the questions. We at first a bit concern as our baby was very unsettle on the day of shooting, however, Leigh was very patience and tried her very best to calm the baby for the whole session. The photos quality comes out very great too, and we ended up purchasing extra photos on top of our package.

Every parent loves their children and I am sure that they always want to record and mark the moments of growth and maturity through each period of their children because so do I! After a lot of research and rigorous selections, I decided to book at the Latent Image Photography and I am absolutely satisfied with it.
Leigh was very professional and friendly, which is very important for babies and kids. I was kind off sad because I missed the opportunity to take a maternity photoshoot and a 2 weeks old newborn photoshoot due to lock down of the covid pandemic, but I was so happy to book for a cake

We had our son's smash cake for his first birthday done by Leigh and we cannot love it enough! Everything was beautiful and professional from the first contact till the end result. The studio is beautiful, everything matched our theme and we all had fun doing the smash cake. The photos turned out even more magical, they are hanging on our hallway entrance wall and we get many compliments when ever someone comes over and sees it. We took our daughter Grace for photos at 8 months. I found Leigh through google search and I liked the look of her pictures on her website. It was such a wonderful experience, she was professional and offered us advice on how to get the best shots. We also had a family portrait as well which turned out beautifully. Our daughter had the best time and she offered a few different looks, family portrait, milk bath, individual portraits with different looks and the pictures that she returned were amazing. I liked that she had a pre photography sessions with you to run through how things will work on

Leigh is a wonderful soul and that reflects in her photography. She takes utmost care that the pictures are perfect without compromising on the baby's comfort. The photographs are natural and highlights our baby's personality.
The studio itself is very artistic and most of the props are made by Leigh herself.
We are very happy that we chose Leigh to take the pictures for our twin boys and coming back for more.

I could not recommend Leigh and Latent photography more highly. As a midwife I know how challenging it can be dealing with new born babies. The calm and gentle approach given and the warm welcoming environment is exactly what a new born mother needs. I have used twice with both kids and I am forever grateful to Leigh for the quality of the memories created. There are some photographers that take photos but not many who create art. Move over Anne Geddes! The photos of my beloved daughters could appear in any magazine or book due to the high quality and angles achieved. Props and background choices

The baby photos were perfect and Leigh even designed the baby's Christening invite, which everyone loved.

Our experience with The Latent Image was incredible! Leigh was overseas when I first made contact and she responded to all my enquiries promptly and was always lovely to deal with. More importantly she was professional and gentle with our babies.
