Subiaco is crazy close to the Perth city center. In fact it's the first residential suburb west (beach side) of the Perth city centre. This means that no matter where you stay in Subiaco, it's super easy to get into the city on foot, by bus or by train. This is a big benefit for anyone going to work or visiting Perth as a tourist as Perth city car parking is expensive.
As a continuation of my project to share with you a local's view on the delights of our inner city suburbs, let me now share my perspective on the Perth suburb of Shenton Park, Subiaco's quieter neighbour. Shenton Park is positioned right next door to Perth's Kings Park botanical gardens. It's an awesome green space with heritage houses and large mature trees, very popular with the local birdlife.
Here's a rundown of the local transport services running in the Subiaco, Shenton Park and West Perth area. Handy Tip: Google Maps offers to easiest and most up-to-date way to plan your travel. Select walk, drive or public transport for specific details. The Subiaco Shuttle (route 97 bus) is a high-frequency local bus service that connects Subiaco Train Station, QEII Medical Centre and The University of Western Australia.
If you're heading to Perth for work or pleasure and have some time to look around, then here's my personal recommendations for the top 10 things to do in Perth. All of our properties at Staywest Apartments are within walking distance of the Kings Park perimeter, but you can also drive into the park or take a bus.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment in Subiaco and it was perfect for what we needed. Very clean and everything needed was provided. Staywest apartments we’re very accomodating and the communication was 5 stars. The parking provided was secure and easily accessible. However worth noting we have a Toyota Prado and it just fit. Anything bigger than that would struggle. Will most definitely be booking with Staywest again in future.

We have stayed here a number of times over the years and always enjoyed our experience very much. The location is excellent and hard to beat and the apartments are fully furnished to a very comfortable standard. Annabelle, our host, has thought of everything with the information she provides and is very experienced in dealing with short term accommodation bookings. The complex has a lovely relaxed feel about it and it's great to have a pool to cool off in to escape the summer heat.
