The average Australian doesn’t earn $69,000 a year and definitely wouldn’t have $70,000 deposit as start up money for their 1st home. Also your making comparisons from a bank that does their home loan term over 30 years compared to Homestarts 18 years. Of course your repayments will be less but you won’t own your home sooner. 85% LVR, again that’s overstating the deposit people would have in the 1st place which is by far the biggest hurdle to overcome. Homestart has low deposit options provided you have a certificate 3 in some form of education,although you will miss out on some luxuries
