East Coast Granny Flats & Small Homes are award-winning granny flat builders and designers, serving the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers areas of NSW. Our founders, Pete and Mick, having worked in the home addition industry for over a decade, recognised the growing need for granny flats and small homes as both investment opportunities and retirement living options.

Launched in 2015, East Coast Granny Flats & Small Homes aims to provide flexibility, freedom and lifestyle choices, offering a range of high quality, affordable granny flats and small homes. The business quickly grew from it's Coffs Harbour starting place and now services the entire north east coast of NSW including Port Macquarie and surrounds, Coffs Harbour and surrounds and the Northern Rivers area.
Services
There are plenty of great reasons to invest in a granny flat or small home. Our multi-award winning contemporary designs are created with your motivations in mind. Better still, our unique modular system means that every design can be customised to meet your individual lifestyle needs and the geography of your site.
East Coast Granny Flats & Small Homes was established in Coffs Harbour and has quickly grown to service the entire mid-north east coast of NSW, including the Mid & Mid North Coast region of Port Macquarie through to Tweed Heads in the Northern Rivers region to the Queensland border. We understand the needs, regulations and geography for this corner of the country, making us the ideal choice for granny flat and small home projects in this region.
Adding a granny flat in the backyard can be one of the best and safest investments you will ever make. A relatively small investment can offer a new source of income with high yields, whether through long term rental or holiday letting. It's also a great way to keep the family together, without having to live on top of each other.
Successful multi-generational living allows extended families to stay together while retaining privacy and independence. Whether you are caring for ageing parents or have adult children living at home, a backyard granny flat represents the perfect balance of connection and separation. As our population ages, and concerns grow about the quality of our aged care facilities, many families are looking for ways to keep ageing parents close.
Building a granny flat in the backyard of your home or existing investment property is a low risk, high return investment opportunity. Not only can you generate an income stream quickly, you also add value to your existing house and land. Building a granny flat is only a fraction of the cost of buying another property or building a standard home.

The designs look nice (hence the second star) so I enquired about one of the options. I received a phone call from Peter who sounded like he would rather be doing anything else but following up on a sales lead. Blunt, condescending and stand offish on the phone to a confused, friendly, genuine enquirer. After getting some information (like pulling teeth) I asked for him to send some follow up information via email, which he said he would. Still waiting two weeks later..
