Chatham Street Cafe and Restaurant has been a dream in the making. From ideas, conversations and chats over the phone, the thought of venturing into the food business is something that has been brewing for many years.
Sri Lankan and Belarusian hospitality is about communal gatherings, familiar aromas wafting through the kitchen, the matriarchs holding fort, the adults cracking jokes and sharing laughter, the children running around creating lots of noise. In short, it is a busy place with loads of food, music, lots of cheer, and memories to last a lifetime.

Sausage gravy tasted like raw flour, the fruit wasn't ripe and there was dust everywhere. Not to mention when the owner sat us down at a dirty table instead of wiping it down she scraped off some food with the menus and then proceeded to seat us there with those menus. When the owner asked how everything was and we said it had been better she just stared at us. Stop wasting money at these establishments that honestly don't care. I will not be back and that makes me sad because we always use to love it here.

This place is amazing for breakfast, lunch or dinner! The food here never disappoints! Portions are big, so you shouldn’t leave hungry. Staff is very friendly. They are very busy Sunday mornings so if you don’t want to have to wait or you don’t prefer a large crowd I recommend going before the church rush or wait until lunch time.

Decidedly average. Service was a little slow but it was the dinner rush. Food was okay but not exceptional. I had the country fried steak. The menu said it came with sorts of potato and vegetable of the day. I was surprised when waitress asked if I wanted soup or salad. I said salad. Country fried steak came out with the potato side but no vegetable. Honest mistake I guess. Overall it wasn't terrible but I don't think I'll be rushing back in a hurry either.
