Services
Our mission is to help infants, children, adolescents from birth to 18 years of age (even though some have hung around a bit longer). We specialise in these young patients and those with special needs to achieve optimum oral health. How do we do this? We provide compassionate, child centred and high quality dental care in a fun and welcoming environment where patients and their parents can feel safe and comfortable.
Michael and his wife Peta have 3 children, 9 year old Olivia, 7 year old James and 4 year old Cara. His dog "Aussie" is a Belgian Malinois who also joins the family on getaways. Michael is known to tinker and on weekends he is happy welding, fabricating or fixing anything with James. Professionally, Michael completed his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1997 at the University of QLD.
The Paediatric Dental Practice offer a range of dental treatments and services for children aged between 0 - 18 years of age. The initial comprehensive examination involves a complete assessment of relevant medical and dietary history, along with any history of dental trauma. This assessment may include radiographs (x-rays) and intraoral photo records.
We encourage excellent dental hygiene for kids through regular dental check-ups and cleans. We also work closely with our patients and their families to set up effective and fun dental care routines at home, with great advice about products, techniques and maintenance schedules. For parents of little first-time dental patients, there can be many whys and hows.
At The Paediatric Dental Practice, we take a conservative approach to extracting teeth in children. An extensively decayed tooth can sometimes be beyond repair with a filling or other dental restorations. This has to be kept in mind when deciding whether to place a filling or to extract the tooth. If there's not enough tooth remaining, a long-term quality filling is not possible and the tooth usually ends up requiring multiple repairs over time.

I couldn't speak highly enough of this place, we have been multiple times now due to our son having a couple of bad falls onto his teeth. They have been phenomenal every time, they always go above and beyond to make our child feel as comfortable as possible and never push if he doesn't want to do something. I am always so impressed by the respectful and kind nature that all the staff have, absolutely worth the half hour drive for us to go here!

We had such a great experience here! Our 2 year old had an accident & we needed an emergency appointment to get his teeth checked. Abby was so kind, caring and reassuring over the phone & helped to get us our son seen as soon as possible. His appointment was with Marnie who was also amazing! It’s not easy getting a toddler with a sore mouth to cooperate but she was so gentle and caring and really helped to put us as parents at ease. Really thankful for her kindness & expertise! The space is also really wonderfully well set up for kids, it’s very bright and welcoming & helped put us all more

The entire staff went above and beyond to make me feel as comfortable and reassured as possible during my daughter’s recent visit. Dr Michael Chong was very professional and knowledgeable, knowing all the tricks to help my little one feel more comfortable with what was happening. I wouldn’t take my daughter anywhere else!

Had an unfortunate experience due to the poor service and attitude from administration staff, one who seemed more interested in laughing with another staff member at a mistake she made rather than our interaction. I would assume that a dental surgery would treat all people with respect as referrals and word of mouth is imperative, however treating me in a condescending and unwelcome manner was clearly more important.

Money grab. I never recommend this practice to friends. They make a tiny decay such a great deal and try to get your kids have a surgery with general anaesthetic. I took my kid to several other dentists for second opinions and they told me that it's going to be just fine as long as I brush her teeth every day with fluoride toothpaste. It's been 2 years since and her decay hasn't progressed at all. It's very tiny so she shouldn't even feel sensitivity. I'm so glad I didn't pay $3000 to The Paediatric Dental Practice and didn't get my daughter at risk with general anaesthetic unnecessarily.

I went to see Dr Tony Cakar yesterday with my 17month old son because he had hurt his mouth quite badly. Dr Cakar was so kind to my son and I. He explained everything to me thoroughly and was happy to answer all of my questions. The receptionist and the dental nurses were all so lovely also. Over all it was a great experience and I will deffinetly bring my son here for all his dental needs in the future.
Thank you

This team are so good at what they do! I'm not sure who was more anxious about my daughter having a dental procedure - her or me! But there was no need to worry. Michael, Kate & Leah all had such a calm and engaging manner that my daughter had no idea she even had a needle! While I had been concerned that she may come away a little traumatised by the experience, she was so distracted by the team and the movie on that the procedure was almost secondary. Importantly for me as well, it's hard to even tell where the work occurred and she had no discomfort after. I couldn't recommend the Paediatric
