Combining Massage and Pilates in the one location was a necessity to ensure our valued clients had more safe and affective tools at hand to help them move without pain, manage pregnancy, correct postural dysfunctions, prevent injury and of course, get fitter. Sedentary lifestyles can lead to increased musculoskeletal pain, which can then lead into muscle atrophy, depression and other related problems.
What should I expect in my first massage/myotherapy session? InitIal consultations normally involve a general health screen which encompasses detailed health history questions, postural assessment, muscle strength tests and orthopaedic tests. The time taken to conduct the general health screen will vary depending on your presenting condition but last between 5 to 15 minutes.
Massage can stimulate the immune system by increasing circulation and promoting lymph flow, relieving congestion within the soft tissues. Massage can improve muscle tone and delay muscle atrophy by breaking down adhesions, reducing inflammation and fluid retention. Promotes the release of serotonin, which improves mood & sleep, and endorphin, leading to pain reduction due to musculoskeletal problems.
Everyone who has practised pilates has heard of Joseph Pilates, who developed a physical fitness system called Contrology, taught in the early 20th century in Germany, the UK and US. Popularised by dancers in the US, Pilates as it came to be known, is a conditioning routine that improves coordination and balance, helps build flexibility, endurance and strength with emphasis on the core.
Level 1 (Beginners) More challenging than an Essential Level class. Work on increasing strength and stability with harder exercises. We suggest those new to Pilates do approximately up to eight Level 1 Beginners classes before moving onto Open Level/Level 2 Intermediate classes. Everyone is different, so please chat to your instructor if you think you are ready to move up a level sooner.

Lahn was fabulous at introducing me to Pilates and provided a comprehensive orientation of the equipment during my session. I felt completely comfortable using the reformer bed and now feel confident enough to join a group class. I was particularly touched at how accommodating and friendly she was to my 9 month old who came along to the session with me. Thanks heaps Lahn!

I always walk out of Aware Health feeling better than I did when I walked in! That's all you can ask for really.
Whether it's after a massage/myotherapy treatment because my neck is stuck or my shoulders are tense (I've been treated by everyone here, all exceptionally good at what they do). Or it's after one of Belinda or Lahn's Pilates classes, which are fun AND beneficial in so many ways. I might walk out with jelly legs, but still feel better for it!
Thanks for keeping me moving and pain free guys, I recommend you to anyone who'll listen!

I was attending pilates here for a year I like the facilities, the classes are good and it really helped me got my core strength back after giving birth. The only thing I didn't like was I get picked on most of the time because of my height. I'm 5 foot tall and one of the trainer always make a joke about my height during the class which made me feel really self-conscious during class. I find it so unprofessional. I know she does not really mean any harm but please if you want to make the class laugh don't put it under someone else's expense. I didn't come back after my yearly membership ended.

I have had remedial pregnancy massages throughout both of my pregnancies, and Melissa is absolutely fantastic. She is so strong, caring and very knowledgeable, so I always leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Love my massages!
