Footsteps Psychology
Life's a little tough at times isn't it? Things get thrown at us from all angles, and it's not always easy to duck and weave your way through. And that's fine. But if you've reached a point where you're feeling a tad stuck, and you know you need a hand to keep moving forward, that's where Footsteps Psychology comes into play.

Offering a range of services to children and adults, I love helping people understand what's holding them back. Psychology works when you commit to a being open to a process of recognising patterns of behaviour and working with me to change these. Clients finish psychology feeling like they've now got the tools they need to get through life - and ENJOY it.

It makes me laugh that a high school drop-out gained the honour of being called Dr Rimlinger. How does this happen? As it turns out I'm a gifted, rebellious, underachiever who found my purpose later in life. As the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran, I was a teen in the 80s and rebelled against almost everything - my parents, school, rules.
My therapy of choice is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It's a form of cognitive and behavioural therapy that focusses on thoughts, feelings and actions and helps you live a life you value. I'm also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) along with Circle of Security (CoS) interventions and Motivational Interviewing (MIT).
I grew up not knowing that I was a gifted individual. As a result, I was rebellious and dropped out of school early. It wasn't until I had my children and my youngest was found to be 'profoundly gifted' that I started to understand what it meant to be gifted. Finding limited help, it made perfect sense to specialise in this area.
My dad is a career soldier who served in the Vietnam war. Having dad coming and going was a normal part of my childhood, but I could see the effect it had on both mum and dad as they adjusted to the soldier life. Meeting many of dad's soldier mates, I've been hanging out with veterans for the past 20 years.
And honestly, most of us reach a point where we're feeling a bit stuck and not knowing what we should be doing. It's like being stuck in the middle of a swamp, the water's murky, the fog hangs low, and it's hard to see the other side. That's where talking to a trained psychologist can help you. I can help you find ways to break through that fog and start swimming to get out of that dark place.
