With 25 years in the field, Caraniche is a specialist provider of a broad range of psychological services across Australia. At the heart of everything we do are connections that better lives. We deliver a range of specialist psychological services to government, private and not-for-profit organisations.
We work with some of the most marginalised people in our community to help get their lives back on track through alcohol and drug counselling, specialised services for youth, and behaviour change programs. We are the state-wide drug and alcohol treatment provider in Victoria's public prisons, and the Victorian state-wide provider of rehabilitation services to the youth justice sector.

Services
Caraniche designs and delivers a broad range of AOD counselling and offence-focused treatment programs to male and female offenders across Victoria's 13 public prisons. We asked some of our clients to tell us their story and why they're engaging in treatment with Caraniche. Since being in prison, I've done both group programs and individual counselling with Caraniche.
The Caraniche Board and Senior Leadership Team have identified Aboriginal cultural issues as a strategic priority for our organisation. We have a number of initiatives already underway in this area including working towards our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and also recognise that we have a lot more work to do, and a responsibility and the potential to have a positive influence and make a difference.

Established in Melbourne in 1993, Caraniche commenced its operations as a specialist forensic psychology company, delivering alcohol and other drug (AoD) treatment programs through the Department of Justice. Our approach to the delivery of treatment programs was new, innovative, and ahead of its time, and consequently, our service delivery was expanded rapidly across seven of Victoria's public prisons.
Caraniche provides evidence-based alcohol and other drug treatment services to over 6000 prisoners each year across 13 locations within the Victorian prison system. These services are delivered by our team of psychologists and social workers.
Our comprehensive assessment process identifies an offender's treatment readiness, collects information about their risk of re-offending, determines the appropriate level of treatment, and directs them into the most suitable treatment program. These programs are divided into five levels of treatment ranging from information provision and harm reduction programs through to high intensity treatment programs.
