Services
Mental health professionals are required to undergo training in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of psychological and family problems. Where possible, we aim to deliver techniques and therapies with demonstrated effectiveness in treating mental health concerns, using a general treatment approach of best core principles of therapy to increase the likelihood of clinical improvements for clients.
Mandy is the founder and Principal Clinical Psychologist at MGPsych, and is committed to providing current, effective treatment. Whether you have a diagnosable disorder requiring clinical treatment, wish to understand yourself and your patterns of behaviour better, or want to talk to someone about life's daily challenges, she and her team will be happy to explore your treatment needs and support your journey to wellness or personal growth.
CBT is based on the idea that the way we think can affect the way we feel and behave in the world. It suggests that psychological problems can emerge from the way in which we evaluate certain events in our lives, and can impact our thoughts and feelings, as well as behaviours.

That means that by changing the way we think about things (events/situations in our lives), we are able to change unhelpful habits or behaviours, and learn to think in more realistic and helpful ways.
ACT is a treatment approach which takes the position that personal suffering stems from our attempts to avoid the experience of emotional pain, rather than from the experience of that emotional pain itself. The things we want to avoid might include thoughts, feelings, sensations and memories that cause us distress.
Most people have had the experience of arriving at a destination and not being quite aware of how they mapped their route to get there. We somehow drive/walk/ travel through much of our lives on auto- pilot, somewhat 'mindlessly'. Mindfulness is a word used to describe many things, but in the therapeutic sense, it represents a mind-state of openness, awareness, connectedness to the moment.

I saw Mandy for many years and found her to be a guiding light when I needed that much needed support. I was always comfortable opening up, never felt judged or embarrassed - it was really like confiding in a friend. Mandy has a naturally caring approach and I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for support.
