A draftsman drafts plans and a building designer designs buildings. In order to provide building design or drafting services direct to the public, you must hold a "Building Design" license. Therefore the only difference is the level of professionalism or depth of services they can offer to the customer.
Owen Batchelor established East Coast Building Design in the early 1990's as a design and drafting company. The focus has changed over the decades towards sustainability and energy efficient buildings. While we build a custom new website for "Passive House Brisbane" please peruse the information on this site and the many projects we have created over the years, many of which could have been made into Passive Houses very easily.
Owen Batchelor and East Coast Building Design have consistently been award winning designers since 2001, achieving numerous awards and accolades since. None of the projects completed in 2013 or 2014 proved to be worthy of submission at that time. 2013 and 2014 have been the toughest years on record in our industry, so i decided to take time off to upgrade my qualifications and extend my license.
Private practice town planning firms are largely based on urban planning firms that had some grass-roots involvement with the local council, and after serving their time, have gone out on their own to provide services to the public. Most private town planners have absolutely NO. They rely solely on their ability to interpret the council planning scheme wording, which is often fine.

Units townhouses apartments are the backbone of small to medium investors in Brisbane, and the majority end up on small blocks and infilled around existing houses, which allows the average home owner to utilize unused land to become debt free.
