This proposal is for a new house which faces the road that follows the ocean front. High dunes stand between the house and the sea and therefore the living areas have been elevated to look over the dunes. At the rear a north facing courtyard offers a wind protected environment for gatherings and play at any time of the year.
Alterations and additions to a three storey 1880's terrace house for the two architect owners is for the transformation of a damp and derelict 3 storey Victorian terrace house into a light and airy 4 storey contemporary home. Constraints and limited resources provided the stimulus for creativity as the architects became owner builders.
Alterations and additions to a federation bungalow, remodeling the rear of the house, improving the relationship to the garden and adding a new dual occupancy unit at the rear. The clients have a grown up child and wish to accommodate his and their own needs. The proposal focuses on the courtyard defined by the glazed rear of the refurbished old house and the new dual occupancy unit across the garden which has its own terrace.
Alterations and additions to architect A.N.Baldwinson's own house, built in 1954. Baldwinson was a pioneer of modern architecture in Australia. The house has a heritage listing at Municipality level. The existing two storey house is perched at the top of a sloping site, with its full width verandah that projects out from the lower level overlooking the harbour.
