Services
We investigate, review and recommend appropriate remedial works for a raft of problems with buildings, ranging from leaking roofs and balconies to damp issues and broken and deflected roof structures. This may or may not involve engaging and supervising contractors to carry out the remedial works, as the client prefers.
Design of new houses and additions to existing houses, including footings design, structure design for portals and unusual framing, roof design and upper floor design in concrete or timber. Footings design, to AS2870, includes soil testing and assessment. In the case of additions, it's often more challenging to get the new parts to reflect the existing old house architecture than to design a completely new structure.
Investigation, analysis, design and documentation of a variety of unusual projects is the general idea. We also look at not only steel reinforcing but also reinforcing materials such as glass fibre and glass rods. These projects are within residential, commercial, industrial, coastal and mining industries.
Boat ramps and boat launching facilities for recreational and commercial vessels, where we conceptualise facilities on the coast and in rivers and estuaries and attend to the detailed design documentation. The designs generally comply with SABFAC guidelines to enable clients to apply for funding grants from the SA Government.
Civil design and documentation for your every need - from stormwater to elevated boardwalks & everything in between. Roadway, pavement and hardstand area designs, undertaken for minimal traffic loading, specific high load vehicles such as forklifts or general road or highway loading conditions, as well as contouring areas to control stormwater runoff and make sure they work as planned, and designing pavement surfaces themselves.

We found Magryn to be very courteous and professional. They explained the process and timelines, talked through the potential issues and kept to the original schedule. They did take longer than expected to supply an additional letter required for Development Approval but were appologetic and in the end provided exactly what we required. Overall a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I recently contacted Magryn & Associates to discuss a cracking issue I had with a wall in my house.
After discussing the issue over the phone, we organised a time to meet, and Terry was on site right on time, early that morning. He reviewed the issue and also answered every one of my questions in a very clear way.
His report was very thorough and he even explained the questions which I had posed to a previous engineer (who wouldn't contact me about them).
His costs were outlined prior to my accepting his services, and they were extremely accurate when comparing to the actual amount.

Magryn Engineering has been of key support to us in a very stressful situation spanning 1.5 years involving a council approved new build undermining part of our existing property foundation. Engaged to design 2.4m high retaining wall to specification for council submission. Upon meeting the engineer on site it soon became concerning to me that that the person sent out, in my opinion lacked experience. I explained what was required only to find multiple mistakes in the plans once supplied. These included, incorrect height and length dimensions and even the address location was wrong which needed to be submitted to council. After raising this with the organisation the mistakes made were corrected, and had to be re-submitted to council. Upon getting contractors to quote the work further
