Neurological physiotherapy aims to maximise well being and independence for people living with neurological conditions. For many neurological conditions, neuroplasticity is the key to functional improvement: rewiring the brain. Neuroplasticity refers to the capacity of the nervous system to change in response to experience.
Small group rehabilitation and circuit therapy classes for people with stroke, Parkinson's disease, Multiple sclerosis, brain injury and other neurological conditions. Classes focus on achieving individual patient goals. All attendees are required to have two 1:1 sessions at their home (fee $140 per visit) for a neurological physiotherapy assessment and provision of a home exercise program.
People with Parkinson's disease (PD) benefit from exercise during all stages of living with PD. The best type of exercise for PD is the one that you will do! Current evidence demonstrates that performing 2.5 hours a week of exercise can slow down symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, so you just need to find the right exercise for you.
Physiotherapists play a crucial role in the prevention of falls. 1 in 3 people aged over 65 years fall every year in Australia. Falls can result in injury, reduced confidence, and a subsequent reduction in activity levels and participation in everyday life.
Falls often occur due when there is a mismatch between an individual's physiological function, such as their strength, balance, flexibility, vision or sensation and the environment they are in or the task they are performing.Physiotherapists work together with other health professionals including GP's and occupational therapists to prevent falls.
