Preventive dentistry is the basis of good dental health. Our approach to oral health is comprehensive and customised to meet the needs of each individual patient. The implementation of effective oral hygiene programmes and check-up appointments every six months enables our team to detect and treat problems in their earliest stage.
Sugar and refined carbohydrates are used by plaque bacteria, producing acids which attack the tooth. The tooth is broken down by a process known as demineralisation where tooth mineral is lost due to acid attack. Dry mouth may be caused by some medications (eg, anti depressants) drugs (eg, metamphetamines) and extreme stress.
Although rarely thought of, one of the most important factors for your continued oral health is saliva. Your saliva neutralises acid, which is produced when food and drinks react with bacteria in your mouth. Containing natural antibacterial properties, saliva forms a protective barrier for your tooth enamel and gums, it can also repair the very early stage of tooth decay by delivering calcium, phosphate and fluoride to the tooth surface.
The term dental caries is more commonly known as tooth decay and it is tooth decay which leads to the occurrence of cavities. Tooth decay and cavities are the symptoms of a bacterial infection which is sometimes referred to as a bacterial imbalance. The latest development in the fight against decay is the Carifree system which is simple, non invasive screening and treatment programme.
Bad breath also known as halitosis is caused by anaerobic bacteria that live within our bodies. Over 80% of bad breath is caused by bacteria in the mouth that convert protein to volatile sulphur compounds which gives the characteristic odour. These bacteria reside on the tongue and in the gum crevices around the teeth.

I had a terrible experience with this dentist. I went there because I had cracked a tooth. They said they were booked out for 3 months. Stupidly I accepted this wait and returned in an emergency when the tooth further deteriorated and I was in great pain. They told me there was nothing to be done at this point and the tooth needed to be extracted. You tell me if this was 'duty of care'?
